Soaring with Eagles: Choosing Your Inner Circle Wisely

The Power of Selecting Your Inner Circle

Good day dearly beloved! It is a joy to be here today as we embark on a transformative journey of self-reflection and growth. In this edition of the Sermon on The Chat, we will explore a powerful truth: the influence of our relationships on our lives. So, let us delve into “Soaring with Eagles: Choosing Your Inner Circle Wisely.”

The Impact of Negative Influences

My friends, have you ever found yourselves surrounded by individuals who constantly emit negativity? Their words and actions pollute your life and poison your atmosphere. They are the ones who doubt your capabilities, criticize your dreams, and hinder your progress. But let me tell you, today, life is too short to spend it with such negative, can’t-do-it, small-minded people who refuse to move forward.

Let me illustrate this with a story. Many years ago, a young woman was filled with ambition and hope. She dreamed of starting her own business, but she was surrounded by friends who constantly dismissed her ideas and belittled her aspirations. Their negativity began to seep into her spirit, and doubt crept into her heart. However, one day, she made a conscious effort and decided to break free from these limiting relationships. She separated herself from those who hindered her growth and sought out individuals who believed in her potential.
As we reflect on this, let us turn to the words of Psalm 1:1 (NLT), which says, “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.” Please pay attention to those surrounding you, as their influence will affect your life.

Surrounding Ourselves with Eagles

Just as eagles soar high in the sky, we, too, are destined for greatness. But we cannot reach new levels if we continue to surround ourselves with chickens, turkeys, and crows.

Imagine a majestic eagle trying to fly alongside a flock of chickens, each one keeping its head down, focused on what it cannot do. It is impossible for the eagle to reach its full potential in such an environment. Likewise, if we associate with turkeys, those who compromise and settle for mediocrity, we will never soar to the heights God has planned for us. And let us remember the crows, those who constantly complain, find fault and see the worst in every situation. If we choose to surround ourselves with negativity, we will never witness the greatness within us.

Allow me to share another story. In the early 1900s, a group of African American women was known as the “Black Women Millionaires.” Despite facing immense challenges and discrimination, they formed a supportive sisterhood, encouraging each other to pursue entrepreneurship and economic independence. They lifted each other up, inspiring one another to reach higher. They were eagles, and their collective impact was extraordinary. Proverbs 13:20 (NIV) reveals a profound truth in the Bible: “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

Letting Go of Chickens, Turkeys, and Crows

Beloved, it is time to reassess our relationships. We must identify and detach from toxic associations that hinder our growth. We must recognize the characteristics of chickens, turkeys, and crows in our lives and take the necessary steps to protect our spirits.

It is vital to surround ourselves with individuals who inspire us, believe in our dreams, and challenge us to become the best versions of ourselves. We need eagles in our lives—people who soar, people who are doing great things, people who possess a great attitude. As we seek out these uplifting relationships, we will witness a transformation within ourselves. In the Bible, the Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV), wisely advises us: “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.'”

Beloved, as I wrap this up and conclude our time together, let us remember the power of choosing our inner circle wisely. Let us reflect on our relationships’ impact on our lives and make intentional decisions to surround ourselves with eagles.

Today, I encourage you to take a moment to evaluate your relationships. Seek out those who inspire you to rise and challenge you to embrace your full potential. As we let go of chickens, turkeys, and crows, we make room for eagles to enter our lives.

Let us pray together:

“Heavenly Father, we thank You for the wisdom You have imparted to us today. Help us to identify the relationships that hinder our growth and give us the strength to let go. Surround us with individuals who inspire us to be our best and who walk alongside us on our journey. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

Beloved, -I love calling you guys that today- may you go forth from this place with a renewed understanding of the importance of your inner circle. May you surround yourself with eagles who uplift your spirit and propel you toward your destiny. Remember, you were created to soar, and you will in Jesus’ name, Amen!

God bless you all, and have a great week!
