Waiting on The Lord Even When You Don’t See Anything Happening
The Importance of Waiting on the Lord
There are times in life when we feel like we’re in a holding pattern, waiting for something to happen. It could be a job opportunity, a relationship to take shape, a health issue to resolve, or a dream to come true. And when we’ve been waiting for what seems like a long time, it can be easy to become discouraged, frustrated, and even give up on our faith.
The Frustration of Waiting: When Nothing Seems to Happen
But the Bible reminds us that waiting on the Lord is an essential part of the Christian life. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” And in Isaiah 40:31, we read, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Testing and Preparation: The Hidden Benefits of Waiting
The waiting period can be a time of testing and preparation. It can be a time when God is working behind the scenes, preparing us for what’s to come. In Genesis 39, Joseph spent years in prison, waiting for God’s plan to unfold. But during that time, he learned essential skills and developed his character, which prepared him for his eventual position as second-in-command to Pharaoh.
Trusting in God’s Timing: A Lesson from Joseph’s Story
It’s important to remember that God’s timing is not our timing. Second, Peter 3:8 says, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”
God’s Presence in the Waiting Period: Finding Comfort in His Love
We can take comfort in the fact that God is always with us, even in the waiting period. In Psalm 46:1, we read, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” And in Psalm 34:18, we read, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The Power of Prayer and Praise: How to Stay Faithful During the Wait
So, if you’re in a season of waiting, hold onto your faith and trust that God is working in your life. Keep praying, keep seeking His will, and keep praising Him for His goodness. And remember the words of Isaiah 30:18, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore, he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!”
Our God is full of promises of Compassion and Grace. There is Blessing in Waiting on the Lord.
Have a great week!
