God Opens and Closes Doors: Trust His Plan for Your Life
My dear friends, today I want to remind you that God is the opener and closer of your doors. You may have experienced a closed door in your life, a job you applied for, a relationship that ended, or a dream that didn’t come to fruition. But I want to encourage you today not to fight against those closed doors. Instead, trust that God has a plan for your life, and sometimes He needs to close a door to take you to the next level.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” We must learn to trust God’s plan, even when it doesn’t make sense. If a door closes in your life, it may not be the end but rather the beginning of a new journey.
You may be wondering why a door had to close in your life. However, I want to remind you of the story of the Israelites in the Bible. After they were saved from slavery, they were in the wilderness for 40 years, and God provided them with manna daily. But when they reached the Promised Land, the manna stopped. Why did this happen? Because God was taking them to the next level of their destiny. They were about to enter a new season, and the manna was no longer needed.
Sometimes, when God wants to take you to a new level, He has to close a door where you are. But don’t be afraid of endings. They could be God leading you to His plans for your life. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Trust that God is working behind the scenes to bring about something extraordinary in your life.
When there’s an ending, get ready, my friends. God’s about to do something amazing in your life. He’s doing things you can’t see as He works in the background. Trust Him that he’s ordering your steps. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has better things for your life and wants to take you to the next level of your destiny.
I want to share with you a story about a woman named Sarah. Sarah had been working at a company for ten years and loved her job. She had great colleagues and was doing well in her role. However, she was unexpectedly laid off. Sarah was devastated. She had never been unemployed before and didn’t know what to do.
But Sarah didn’t sit in self-pity. she did precisely what I’m trying to tell you today. She trusted God’s plan for her life, even though she didn’t understand why this had happened. She applied for other jobs but didn’t get any responses. However, she kept praying and believing God had a plan for her.
After a few months, Sarah received a call from a recruiter. They had found her resume online and were interested in speaking with her about a job. Sarah went for an interview, and to her surprise, the job was even better than her previous one. The salary was higher, the benefits were better, and the company culture was a perfect fit for her.
Looking back, Sarah realized that what she thought was a significant setback was a big setup. God had closed the door on her previous job to take her to the next level of her career. Sarah’s faith and trust in God’s plan led her to a better opportunity than she could have ever imagined.
My friends, sometimes we don’t understand why particular doors close, but we must trust that God has a better plan for us. We must learn to let go of what we thought should happen and embrace what God has in store for us. Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” God knows the plans He has for you and will guide you to where you need to be.
I want to encourage you today not to sit in self-pity when a door closes in your life. Instead, stay in faith and trust that God is moving you to the next level of your destiny. A significant setback could be an extensive setup for something greater. When one door closes, another opens. It may not make sense to you now, but if you remain still and leave your life in His hands, it will eventually make sense.
I want to share with you another story about a man named Joseph. You probably know the story. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Joseph could have easily given up and thought that God had abandoned him. But Joseph believed in God’s plan for his life and trusted that God would see him through.
Years later, Joseph was released from prison and became the second-in-command to Pharaoh in Egypt. He saved the people from famine, including his own family, who had betrayed him years earlier. Looking back, Joseph realized that what he thought was a closed door was actually God preparing him for a greater purpose. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph told his brothers, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
My friends, just like Joseph, we must trust that God is working all things for our good. We may not understand why particular doors close, but we must believe God has a plan for us. Hebrews 12:2 says, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Jesus endured the cross for our sake, and we must trust that He will see us through our own trials.
Folks, I want to remind you that God is the opener and closer of your doors. Trust His plan for your life, even when it doesn’t make sense to you. When one door closes, another opens. It may not be the end, but rather the beginning of a new journey. Don’t fight against closed doors but embrace them as an opportunity for growth and change. Stay in faith and let Him move you to the new level of your destiny.
Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your grace and faithfulness in our lives. We ask that you help us to trust your plan for our lives, even when we don’t understand why particular doors close. Please help us to embrace closed doors as an opportunity for growth and change. We pray that you guide us to where we need to be and that you bless us abundantly. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
My dear friends, I pray that this message has encouraged you today. Remember, God is doing something extraordinary in your life, even if you can’t see it yet. Trust His plan and have faith that He will take you to the next level of your destiny. Have a great week!
